Advisory

Dozens of Sheriff’s Department volunteers participate at Compton Station’s 4th Annual Mug Run.

On Sunday, November 18, 2012 while most people were getting ready to attend Sunday services, 42 Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department volunteers reported to the Gateway Towne Center (101 Towne Center Drive, Compton, CA 90220) for assignments along the route of Compton’s 4th Annual Mug Run 5K/10K Race.

Volunteers from Compton, Industry, Norwalk, and Temple Stations and Transit Service Bureau were stationed at all the key intersections providing traffic control / assistance to all motorists (many of which were parishioners attending Sunday services at various local parishes) and assistance to the many runners along the route.

Volunteer assistance was indispensable to the safety of all two hundred runners. Without their presence, it would have been increasingly difficult to host this event. Compton Station wishes to express its gratitude for a job well done and to acknowledge the importance of the volunteer program in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The Mug Run series are fund raising events which serve to collect funds for various stations functions including the famed 120 mile “Baker to Vegas” run which takes place every March or April.
