Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca spoke at the 2nd United in Peace Festival Ride

On Sunday, November18, 2012, Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca spoke at the 2nd United in Peace Festival Ride which began at Earvin Magic Johnson Park. The sheriff spoke in support of this event.

The sponsor of the event was Minister Tony Muhammad, the Wester Regional Representative of the Nation of Islam. He stated it was an honor to collaborate with community leaders who were committed to increasing peace and determined to stop senseless killing through a series of events that will bring all warring factions together.

About 150 motorcycle riders from all over Los Angeles caravanned throughout neighborhoods, housing projects and gang territories in Compton, Inglewood and Los Angeles. While riding through the area the participants handed out information to people promoting personal responsibility, morals and ethics, anti-violence, anti-drugs and anti-gangs. The ride ended in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff’s and Security Officers from Parks Bureau provided security in the park and assisted with traffic control for the participants while they left the park.

Earvin Magic Johnson Park, is located at 905 East El Segundo Boulevard, Los Angeles.

The Parks Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department polices 177 county parks, golf courses and special event venues throughout Los Angeles County.
