Traffic Stop Nets Large Quantity of Marijuana
Dearborn County: Yesterday around 2 p.m. Senior Trooper Jimmy Wells was patrolling I-74 in Dearborn County when he stopped a 2010 Chevrolet Impala near the 164 mile marker eastbound for speeding. During the course of the traffic stop S/Tpr. Wells became suspicious of possible criminal activity and requested a K-9 unit. Officer Jacob Jump and his K-9 partner, Newby from the Lawrenceburg Police Department responded. Newby alerted on the vehicle and a subsequent search resulted in the discovery of approximately 50 pounds of marijuana. The driver, 32 year old Ashley L. Love of Indianapolis was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center. He is now facing a charge of Dealing in Marijuana-Over 10 Pounds a Class C Felony.
According to S/Tpr. Wells, the marijuana valued at approximately $50,000 was being transported from Indianapolis to Cincinnati.
Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
