One Arrested on Meth Charge

Jefferson County: In the early afternoon hours of Saturday, November 3 Trooper Randel Miller arrested 40 year old James D. May of North Vernon on meth related charges. According to Tpr. Miller, he received information of a possible meth lab at Lot 12 of the Sparkman Trailer Court in Dupont. Tpr. Miller responded to the residence and after speaking with the female resident obtained consent to search the trailer. As a result of the search, Tpr. Miller located a bag containing precursors utilized in the manufacture of methamphetamine. May was arrested without incident and was preliminarily charged with Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors, a Class D Felony.

Pending prosecutor’s review of the case, additional charges could be filed against May as well as the female resident of the trailer and the owner of the trailer. The investigation is continuing. Tpr. Miller was assisted by other troopers along with Jefferson and Jennings County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
