Personal Thefts and Property Crimes

Here are a few tips from our Thefts Detective, Rick Yep. At all of our Community Meetings, we have been emphasizing Property Crimes and Personal Thefts. We really need your help in reducing these "preventable" crimes from happening. Please share them with everyone you know. Sincerely,, S.L.O. Ron Carter

Theft of Personal Property - cell phones and or wallets left at the counter of a store, bank, restaurant. Cell phones or wallets left unattended in an office or other work location.

Bikes left unattended or not locked to a secure post. (Thieves have bolt cutters, so even if victims lock their bikes - they are still being stolen. Its best to keep the bikes inside a garage, house or apartment.)

Packages stolen from front porches: Several thefts occur when UPS or Fed Ex leaves packages on the front porch - and suspect grabs the unattended item. Make sure that when ordering items for the holidays, that it is delivered with the REQUEST that buyer sign for the package. Hopefully this can prevent a future Crime report.

Thanks for all your help....

Det. Rick Yep
