Hurricane warning in effect for New Jersey thru Tuesday.

This message is to advise you that our area will more than likely be strongly affected by Hurricane Sandy. Please take precautionary steps now. We are recommending the following:
1.) Make a plan of evacuation if necessary. Evacuation is only voluntary at this time but we are asking that you contact family and friends to locate a residence you can stay at if needed. If you do not have anyone to contact, or need shelter please contact our dispatch line at 461-3434.

2.) Make a travel bag with basic necessities if evacuation is needed.

3.) Any vehicles that would not be able to be driven in flood like conditions, we have available parking in the lots behind the Riverside Police Station and Riverside Library. We are recommending vehicles be moved here.

4.) Make contact with any elderly / disabled neighbors to assist with problems or concerns.

5.)Please tie down or remove any and all loose items around your residence . Trashcans, Chairs, etc.

6.)Have candles , batteries, and flashlights on hand.

7.) Clean out any gutters or storm drains near your house to keep water flowing. Do not dump leaves or branches in the street at this time.

8.)Have bottled water ,and canned goods on hand if power goes down.

9.) Keep a battery powered radio.

10.)Check local weather reports for changes and advisories.

We are asking all residences stay calm, error on the side of caution and stay safe.
