Now is the time to prepare for this storm. The following steps need to be taken to protect your family, neighbors and property

BEFORE THE STORM STRIKES
Secure any items in and around your yard that could become airborne from strong winds that are expected to reach 60 to 70 MPH sustained with gusts as high as 80 to 90 MPH. Prepare or update a family emergency / evacuation kit that includes: flashlights, portable radio, spare batteries, a first aid kit, prescription and non-prescription medications, sanitation and hygiene supplies, water (one gallon per person per day for five days), non perishable foods, manual can opener, change of clothes and bedding supplies, activities to occupy children, reading materials, and any other items you think you may need in the event of a long term power outage or evacuation.

DURING THE STORM
Remain indoors and stay away from large windows and glass or sliding doors. monitor local radio and TV stations for storm related information and possible evacuation notices.

USE 9-1-1 FOR LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCIES ONLY!

TO REPORT OTHER STORM RELATED INFORMATION SUCH AS DOWNED TREES OR POWER LINES OR OTHER NON-LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS USE THE MAIN POLICE DEPARTMENT PHONE NUMBER: 732-238-1000

IF ORDERED TO EVACUATE DO SO IMMEDIATELY!

AFTER THE STORM
Survey your home and property for damage. Report but DO NOT GO NEAR DOWNED WIRES. remove debris from storm drains and catch basins. Do not walk or drive through deep puddles or rapid moving water. Keep children nearby - do not let them wander around the neighborhood. Check on any elderly or disabled neighbors or family members.

SPECIAL ATTENTION TO RESIDENTS LIVING IN OR NEAR RIVERS, STREAMS, SWAMPS OR OTHER FLOOD PRONE AREAS
This is a huge and dangerous storm capable of producing up to 10 inches or more of wind driven rain. You are urged to move valuables, important documents and any other items that cannot be replaced to upper floors of your residence. Move vehicles to higher ground and evacuate to a family or friends home that is not in a flood risk location. Do this before the storm strikes as evacuation may not be possible once flooding begins.
