Hurricane Sandy is forecast to impact our area beginning as soon as Sunday afternoon. This is a very large storm capable of producing heavy winds and large amounts of rainfall. Residents in flood prone areas are advised to begin making preparations now.
What to expect; heavy winds will take down trees and power lines causing power failures.
Expect extended periods of power loss, ranging from days to possibly weeks.
Expect street flooding and road closures
Expect limited services , ie transportation, fuel delivery, food and water
People with medical conditions that require power for life support should seek assistance from equipment or nursing providers now. People with medical conditions that restrict mobility should seek to relocate to friends or family that can assist.
Emergency services will be limited and may not be able to respond at various times during the storm. The storm duration will be long. The storm movement is slow and will be with us until at least Thursday according to latest forecasts.
