BURGLARY PREVENTION TIP: “Someone is knocking on my front door”
Unexpected knock at the door? DON'T ignore them…Burglars will often knock on many doors before breaking into a home.
While we don't want you to open the door, we DO want you to yell through the door and tell the person that you aren't interested. Tell your children to do the same thing. Then get to your phone and call the Pleasanton Police Department to notify us of the suspicious activity (non-emergency number 931-5100). This could be a burglar looking for an unoccupied home. If you don't acknowledge the door, you could find the suspicious person at the back of your house within just a couple minutes. Someone at your door asking for an unknown or fictitious person is a big RED FLAG. Rely on your instincts. You have the best idea of who should and shouldn’t be in your neighborhood and whether you are expecting someone or not.
Don't talk yourself out of calling the police or try to justify why they might belong there. We continue to ask that you be alert and be on the look out for suspicious people and vehicles in your neighborhood.
Be Aware and be Safe!
