Sheriff’s Office Detectives Working Death Investigation in Del Puerto Canyon
Patterson, CA - 10-06-12 at 6:20 PM Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Del Puerto Canyon just outside of Patterson, CA. A resident in Del Puerto Canyon had found what they believed to be a deceased person in a ravine near mile marker 12. When the first deputy arrived to the area where the body was found he had to climb down into the ravine about 300 feet. At the bottom of the ravine the deputy confirmed a deceased person was down there.
Homicide detectives responded and worked throughout the night and at this point there are no witnesses or many details regarding how the body ended up at the bottom of the ravine. Detectives have said that the deceased person is an adult male, but he has not been identified. The body was removed from the bottom of ravine with assistance from the Sheriff’s Office Special Vehicle Operations Unit and the fire department.
Detectives will need to wait on the autopsy for information on the cause of death and are working this as a death investigation. The autopsy will help provide a cause of death for the investigators and possibly provide them with how long the adult male has been deceased. The autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.
This is the third deceased person found in Del Puerto Canyon in the last two months. It is still too early to say if there is any connection between this current death investigation and the double homicide investigation from early August.
