Compton deputies arrested one known criminal street gang member for ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
In a continuing effort to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Compton, Compton Station deputies help to reduce gang violence through proactive law enforcement in targeted gang areas.
On Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at approximately 1236 hours, Compton deputies responded to the location regarding a shot’s fired call, Tag 108.
Upon their arrival at the location, Compton Deputies detained five individuals, who were standing in the driveway at the location. They noticed bullet holes in the southwest bedroom stucco wall. The deputies conducted a protective sweep for any victims or suspects inside the residence. During the course of their investigation, one of the males admitted to possessing a weapon (Sub-Machine gun) which was subsequently recovered in the rear yard of the location. The deputies also recovered an expended 45 caliber shell casings and several live 45 caliber rounds from inside the southwest bedroom.
The male (suspect) is a self-admitted gang member and was arrested for ex-felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
