On 9/26/2012, a multi-jurisdictional operation involving local, State, and Federal agencies served approximately 32 search warrants in the area of Mooreland Ave and Bellevue Ave. The search warrants are being served for a large concentration of marijuana grows in the back yards of the residences in this area. This area is known for being a high crime area involving gang activity. The purpose of these search warrants is to rid the neighborhood of illegal marijuana operations that may be financially benefiting gangs and that illegal grow operations often lead to further crimes against the law abiding residents of the neighborhood.
The agencies involved in this operation are: Sonoma County Sheriff's Office; Santa Rosa Police Department; F.B.I. Safe Streets Task Force; Homeland Security; California Highway Patrol.
Further information will be released at the completion of the operation.
