Avoid Phone Scams
“GRANDCHILD IN TROUBLE” CALLS
One of the most common scams is the phone call from someone claiming to be a senior citizen’s grandchild. The scammer calls random seniors pretending to be the senior’s grandchild. They claim to have been in a car accident or have been arrested. They need money wired to an out-of-state location.
DO NOT send any money, or provide the caller with information, or keep the call a secret.
DO ask questions (what is his middle named and date of birth), call your grandchild or another family member immediately, and then call your local police department to report the scam.
