ASSAULT VICTIM DIES DURING SURGERY

On Sunday, September 23, 2012 at 1714 hours, the West Covina Police Department was notified by Queen of the Valley Hospital that they had received a stabbing victim in their emergency room. Officers responded to the location and found that the victim had been transported to the hospital by unknown subjects. It was later learned that the stabbing had occurred in the parking lot along the south side of Sears located at 1209 Plaza Drive. At 2035 hours, the victim, an 18 year old male Hispanic, succumbed to his injuries during surgery. The victim’s name is being withheld at this time.

The suspects in the stabbing were described only as multiple male Hispanics that fled the scene after the initial confrontation. The motive as to the stabbing remains unknown.

The West Covina Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance for any information regarding the altercation. Anyone who may have been in the area of the parking lot just outside the Sears south side entrance who witnessed the incident is asked to contact West Covina Police at 626 939-8557.
