Felony Hit and Run driver arrested after fleeing scene.
On September 24, 2012 at approximately 6:32 a.m. The drunk driver, a male Hispanic adult of a 1999, blue Chevrolet Blazer, was involved in a head on traffic collision on Alameda Avenue north of Mealy Street in the City of Compton with a 2003, white Infinity Q35 and female driver. He immediately fled the scene without rendering aid to the injured motorist.
The drunk driver had a can of paint in his vehicle which ruptured upon impact. The paint splashed all over the interior of the passenger compartment, including the suspect. Compton deputies responding to the traffic collision broadcasted the incident and general description of the fleeing felon, including the possibility of paint on him from the ruptured can.
Assisting deputies detained the suspect on 133rd Street and Mona Avenue, Unincorporated Los Angeles (Willowbrook) with paint on his clothing matching the one from the ruptured can. After confessing to the hit and run he was brought back to the crime scene.
He was then booked at the Central Regional Detention Facility
The hit and run victim is currently hospitalized as a result of the collision.
