The exact location of the assault has not been disclosed due to the pending investigation.
Local hospital officials called law enforcement regarding an 18-year-old Latino male from Baldwin Park being treated for traumatic injuries.
"The victim, who appeared to be involved in a physical confrontation, ultimately died from trauma," Detective Sgt. Dennis Patton said.
Police officials did not disclose the extent of the victim's injuries or how many suspects were involved.
"We're working all investigative leads at this point," Patton said.
