On Sunday, September 16 at approximately 11:30 AM, a 14 year old female and 11 year old female were walking near the corner of Charlevoix and Lakeland, when a black, male approached the them. He produced a handgun, pushed one of the girls to the ground and took her cell phone. The perpetrator is described as a black male, 230-250 lbs, light complexion, balding or short hair, approximately 6 feet tall. He was wearing black jeans, a dark hoodie, and had his face covered by his shirt or a bandana. A small handgun was seen.
After the robbery he continued North on Lakeland towards Mack. He pulled and pointed his gun at two residents and a dog that approached him during his escape, and was last seen Westbound between the houses on Lakeland.
Officers from Grosse Pointe, Grosse Pointe Park, Grosse Pointe Woods, Grosse Pointe Shores, Harper Woods, and the canine unit assisted with the manhunt.
