Possible Mountain Lion Sighting
The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office is alerting residents of a possible mountain lion sighting in the area of Elphick Avenue and Bollinger Avenue, Sebastopol.
On 8/31/12 at about 1:30 pm, a resident of the area reported seeing a possible mountain lion wondering in an open field near the above location. The Sheriff's Office has sent a deputy to the area and has notified the Fish and Game Department.
Instructions:
The Sheriff's Office recommends the following safety regarding mountian lions:
* Do not hike, bike, or jog alone.
* Mountain lions are most active at dawn, dusk, and at night.
* Keep a close watch on small children.
* Do not approach a mountain lion.
* If you encounter a mountain lion, do not run; instead, face the animal, make noise and try to look bigger by waving your arms; throw rocks or other objects.
* If attacked, fight back.
