SMPD Investigating an Armed Robbery – No Injuries, Suspect At-Large
Wednesday August 29th – 11:50 am -

Wednesday just before noon, SMPD Officers and on-duty Detectives responded to a reported armed robbery in the 700 block of Indian Avenue near North Humboldt Street. The area was immediately saturated with police personnel who quickly determined that the suspect was no longer on scene, and that there was no immediate danger in the area.

Investigation revealed that the victim, a 36 year-old San Mateo resident, was walking in the area with her two children, a 13 year-old female and a 6 year-old male, when they were confronted by the suspect. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded property from the victim. After taking the property, the suspect fled the area southbound on N. Humboldt St.

SUSPECT INFORMATION:
The suspect in this case was on foot, and there is no associated vehicle known. The suspect was described as a White or light-skinned Hispanic male in his late teens to early 20s. He was described as around 6 feet in height with a stocky build. The suspect appeared to be armed with a handgun.

SMPD Detectives are following up and pursuing all investigative leads. SMPD is asking the community’s assistance – anyone who has information about this case, or who may have seen or heard something suspicious in the area during this time period…
