Advisory

*** Attention Plumbers****

There have been an increase in vehicle thefts throughout Orange and Los Angeles County; specifically targeting vehicles used by plumbers. These vehicles are generally recovered in Los Angeles County with all the tools, brass, copper, etc., stolen from the vehicles. It is believed these suspects are stealing the vehicles due to the scrap value of the materials these vehicles generally store.

The Tustin Police Department encourages any citizens who may be employed as a plumber and drive home a company / personal vehicle that stores plumbing equipment to take extra precautions. Such protective measures to consider are:

• Installing GPS / Lo Jack tracking device on vehicle,
• Install a vehicle alarm system,
• Increase exterior lighting at your property,
• Park the vehicle in a garage or other secure facility,
• Remove valuables from vehicle while parked over night,
• Disable / block vehicle to prevent it from being driven away,
• Ask your neighbors to be extra vigilant in identifying suspicious activity.

Layers of protection is always your best bet in protecting your assets. If you already have the above measures in place; I congratulate you. You are also encouraged to take a couple digital photographs of your vehicle that can be used as an investigative tool should your vehicle be stolen. Some vehicles have unique decals or advertisement logo’s that may aid your vehicles recovery should the need arise.
