Anonymous tip leads to arrest of suspected gang member on parole with loaded handgun. 
On August 28, 2012 at approximately 1030 hours, Compton Sheriff’s Deputies received information that a known parolee / gang member was in possession of a loaded firearm. As deputies followed up on the information, they saw the suspect discard his firearm and flee on foot. A subsequent search of the area was conducted utilizing Sheriff department K-9 units. Shortly thereafter, the suspect surrendered without incident. A loaded .40 caliber firearm was recovered.
Compton Sheriff’s Station takes pride in working with the community to make Compton a safer place for the residents and business owners alike. This is yet another example of sharing information for the betterment of Compton.
Compton Station, Operation Safe Streets Bureau detectives will be handling the investigation.
