The Pleasanton Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in a sexual assault and robbery of a female victim in her twenties.
On August 19, 2012 at approximately 2:30 a.m. a female was walking home alone from downtown Pleasanton. While walking in the area of First Street and Spring Street, she noticed a male adult was following her. When she reached Kottinger Park, the male had closed the distance between them. He made a comment to her that caused her to fear for her safety. She ran into Kottinger Park to get away from the suspect who pursued her into the park. The suspect sexually assaulted the female and stole her cash prior to running away.
The victim sustained bruises and cuts to her body. She was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and released.
During the investigation, the suspect’s hat was recovered by police. A photograph of the hat is attached to the press release. A composite sketch artist created a drawing of the suspect which is attached to this press release. Physical evidence recovered has been submitted to the Alameda County Crime Lab for forensic examination.
The police department has increased patrols around Kottinger Village Park including deployment of uniformed bicycle officers.
The Pleasanton Police Department would like to offer the following safety tips:
1. Be alert to your surroundings and the people around you
