Search For Male Yelling For Help In Annadel State Park

On August 22, 2012, at approximately 7:15 am, Deputies from the
Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 1400 block of White Oak Drive in the Oakmont area of Santa Rosa regarding a male adult yelling in the area.

The reporting party was walking in the area when she heard a male subject yelling for help. This area of White Oak Drive is adjacent to the Annadel State Park, which is just to the south.

Deputies arrived in the area and began searching and calling out for the subject. Additional resources were requested including the off-road Motorcycle Unit of the Sheriff’s Office, Search and Rescue, and a fixed wing aircraft from the California Highway Patrol.

At approximately 9:50 am, while the search efforts were going on in the Annadel area, the Sheriff’s Office received a call of an adult male in the 6600 block of Bennett Valley Road who was standing in the roadway yelling, throwing rocks at cars and acting in a bizarre manner.

Deputies arrived in the area and located a male who was identified as Dillon Wilson, 24 years old, who is transient. Dillon appeared to have been in the wooded area wearing no shoes and had several small abrasions from being in the rugged country. Wilson was taken to Sutter Hospital in Santa Rosa for a medical check and then taken to a mental health facility because he was unable to care for himself.

It is believed that Wilson was possibly the same person that was yelling in Annadel State Park as he was located approximately two miles away from the original report of the subject yelling in the park.

Despite the thought that Wilson was the same person in the park, Sonoma County Search and Rescue continued a tedious grid search of the area until approximately 5:00 pm to make sure there was not an additional person needing assistance in the park. Neighbors in the area were interviewed and the search was then called off.
