Compton Sheriff’s Deputies shoot and wound suspect after he points gun at them.
On Wednesday, August 16, 2012, at approximately 12:18pm, two Compton Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a pedestrian stop in the vicinity of Palmer Street and Poinsettia Avenue. As the deputies were contacting the suspect, he fled while armed with a firearm and a foot pursuit ensued. During the foot pursuit, the suspect pointed his firearm at the deputies, causing them to fear for their lives, and a deputy involved shooting occurred. The suspect was wounded by the gunfire and was taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. A loaded firearm was recovered at the scene. No deputies were injured during the incident.
The investigation is being handled by Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.
