TITLE: Softball Coach Arrested for Having Sexual Intercourse with a Minor

DATE: Between February and July, 2012

VICTIM: 16-year-old female

SUSPECT: Jose Lopez, 35-year-old male Hispanic

LOCATION: Various Locations in the Antelope Valley Area

UNIT: Special Victims Bureau

NARRATIVE:
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau detectives recently concluded an investigation of unlawful sexual intercourse and lewd acts with a child by a girls’ softball coach, in the Antelope Valley area.

Suspect Jose Lopez, 35-year-old male Hispanic, became the subject of an investigation in July 2012, when allegations were made that he had been involved in an on-ongoing sexual relationship with one of his players, a 16-year-old girl.

On August 7, 2012, Sheriff’s detectives arrested Jose Lopez for committing lewd acts with a child.

On August 15, 2012, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed four felony counts against suspect Jose Lopez: Two felony counts of Unlawful Sexual Intercourse, one felony count of Penetration with a Foreign Object, and one felony count of Lewd Acts with a Child.

Suspect Lopez is currently in the custody of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department with a $100,000 dollars bail. His next court date is on September 11, 2012, in Antelope Valley Court.
