Suspect Attempts to Lure Student Into Vehicle

On 08/17/12 at approximately 8:00 AM, a male suspect attempted to lure a female Helix High School student into his vehicle.

The 16 year old female student was walking to Helix High School westbound in the 7500 block of University Avenue when she was approached by the suspect. The suspect drove up next to the female and got out of his vehicle. The suspect said to the female, “Hey, get in my car.” The female ran home and called police. The suspect fled the area in his vehicle and was last seen driving eastbound on University Avenue.

Officers searched the surrounding areas but were unable to locate the suspect or his vehicle.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, 30-40 years old, unshaven, wearing a white T-shirt.

The vehicle was described as a “beat up” white, small or medium sized pick up truck.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the La Mesa Police Department.
