On Monday, August 6, 2012 at approximately 0740 hours, a female victim 80 years of age was alone in her residence in the 1000 block of Indiana Avenue, in South Pasadena. A male suspect 51 years of age, walks into the residence through closed door and asked to charge his cellular telephone.
The victim tells the suspect to leave her residence and this is when he pulls a kitchen knife out and threatens to kill her. The suspect forces the victim into a rear bedroom, forcing her face down on the bed while holding a knife to her. The suspect attempts to tie the victim’s hands behind her back while also in the process of beating her into submission with his hands and fists.
The suspect is interrupted by family members and flees from the residence on foot.
With the help of the Pasadena, Los Angeles, Monterey Park, and San Marino Police Departments, the suspect was apprehend in the 5100 block of Huntington Drive, in the city of Los Angeles, without incident.
The suspect is a parolee at large and has a significant violent criminal past. He is currently being booked at the Los Angeles County Jail on multiple charges which include attempted murder and burglary.
The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
