Sun Prairie Police Department to host Citizen Academy
The Sun Prairie Police Department is excited to offer to Sun Prairie residents, and to those that work in Sun Prairie, the opportunity to participate in the 2012 Citizen Academy. Participants must be 18 years of age and must pass a background check.
This community based policing program affords an opportunity for our citizens to learn more about what it is like to be a police officer, and it allows police officers a chance to better understand a citizen’s perspective on law enforcement.
Citizen Academy participants will spend time in a classroom learning more about police operations including investigations, crime prevention, criminal trends, and internet based criminal activity. Participants will also take part in more hands-on learning, to include building searches, vehicle operation, traffic stop simulation, and firearms training.
Classes will be held on Thursdays starting September 13th and culminate with a graduation banquet on November 8th. Class time is from 6pm-9pm. An additional class will be held the morning of Saturday, September 22nd. Participants do not have to commit to attending all classes.
Please contact Assistant Police Chief Scott Faust, 608-834-9502 or [email protected], if you have questions or are interested in applying.
