19-year-old Sylmar resident serious injured in hit and run traffic collision.

The Los Angeles Police Department, Valley Traffic Detectives are investigating a serious traffic collision that occurred on Friday, July 13, 2012 at approximately 11:45 p.m., on Polk Street just east of Dronfield Avenue.

The six vehicle collision occurred when a hit and run driver in a 2011 Dodge Ram pick-up truck, traveling westbound on Polk Avenue broadsided a 2000 Toyota Corolla. The Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound when it collided with the Toyota Corolla, driven by Roman John Jimenez Jr., a resident of Sylmar, California. The driver of the Toyota Corolla told reporting officers he was negotiating a left turn on a green light when he was struck by the Dodge Ram.

The Toyota Corolla was struck with enough force to change its direction and push it several hundred feet backwards, eastbound on Polk Avenue, ejecting the 19-year-old female passenger onto the roadway. The 19-year-old has been identified as Anahi Donis of Sylmar, California.

The Dodge Ram rolled over onto its roof and collided with several parked vehicles.

After being helped out of the wreckage, the hit and run driver, 23-year-old Sylmar resident, Gabriel Ochoa fled the scene without rendering aid or exchanging information.

Both the driver of the Toyota Corolla and the 19-year-old female passenger were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.

Gabriel Ochoa is being held at Van Nuys Jail for 20001 a VC, Felony Hit and Run with a $50,000.00 bail.
