The City of Portage Police Department is releasing the following information pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 301.46(2m) which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender’s release when, in the discretion of the agency, the release of information will enhance public safety, awareness and protection. The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted of sex offenses. There will be a Community Notification meeting on Tuesday July 17, 2012 at 6:30 PM. This meeting will be held at the Columbia County Law Enforcement Center at 711 E. Cook St., Portage, Wisconsin. At this meeting we will be offering information about the Community Notification Law and the supervised release of Chris W. Poad. This notification is not intended to increase fear but to inform; an informed community is a safer community. This sex offender is NOT wanted by the police at this time.
