Snapshot for the Week of 06/18/2012 through 07/01/2012
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station
Crime Prevention Unit

In the past two weeks, reports have continued to indicate the biggest increase in crime is due to theft from unlocked vehicles. Trends indicate the thefts occurred in the neighborhoods of Las Mananitas Drive, La Granja Drive and Spinnaker Court in the Valencia area during the hours of 8:00pm-8:00am. The victim’s vehicles were parked in their drive-ways or on the street in front of their homes. Items stolen were cameras, I Pods, I Pads, jewelry and cash. Most of the items were visible from the front/rear seats and center console areas of the vehicles.

I also noticed an increase of theft occurring from lockers located in various fitness/gym locations. The thefts are occurring in the locker rooms between the hours of 10:00am-2:00pm, while the victims are working out. The victims reported that their lockers were locked and secure prior to leaving the locker rooms. The reports indicate the locks tampered with were combination locks. Items stolen from the locker were I Phones and cash.

Please do not become a victim! Secure all personal belongings by not leaving your valuables visible in your vehicles. Please roll up all windows and lock all doors before leaving your vehicle whether it’s parked in your driveway or not. Do not take valuable items (money, watches, jewelry or cell phones) with you to the gym. If you must bring the items, lock the personal items in the truck of your vehicle prior to entering the location.

Report all suspicious activity by calling the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
