Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station
Crime Prevention Unit

As the zone leader assigned to the Newhall area, it is my goal to keep you informed on public safety information, along with addressing any public safety and crime concerns occurring in Zone 6 (Newhall). I thank you for the phone calls and emails that I have received from residents who want to become more involved in partnering to prevent crime in the Newhall area.

Please review the attached photo regarding various crimes that have occurred between 06/25/2012 and 07/01/2012.

I would like to remind residents to lock your vehicles at all times. During the early morning hours on 06/25/2012 a vehicle was left unlocked in the area of Via Estrella and Via Canon. A car stereo, radio scanner, GPS, and other items were stolen. During the early morning hours on 06/27/2012 a vehicle was left parked and unlocked in the driveway of the owner’s residence. An unloaded firearm was stolen from inside the vehicle. As you can see locking your vehicle, along with hiding and securing your valuables is very important.

A noteworthy arrest was made during the middle of the night on 06/26/2012. Deputies responded to an elementary school located on the 24200 block of La Glorita Circle in Newhall. A proactive citizen reported seeing three males breaking windows on school grounds. After a search of the area and an investigation, two male juveniles were arrested. Deputies discovered numerous shattered windows, along with graffiti at the location. Both juveniles were booked at Santa Clarita Station for commercial burglary and graffiti vandalism.
