Dynamic New Websites Launched by LASD Avalon and East Los Angeles Sheriff's Stations

New community-based websites have been launched that are dedicated to the communities served by the Avalon Sheriff’s Station (www.Avalon.lasd.org) and East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station (www.EastLA.lasd.org) of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The website of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (www.lasd.org) shares information pertaining to the entire jurisdiction of the LASD and content is prepared by Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

Avalon Sheriff’s Station polices the City of Avalon and the unincorporated communities of Santa Catalina Island, San Clemente Island, and the ocean waters between the islands and mainland Southern California: www.Avalon.lasd.org

East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station polices the Cities of Commerce, Cudahy, and Maywood, and the unincorporated communities of Belvedere Gardens, City Terrace, Eastmont, East Los Angeles, Saybrook Park, and Union Pacific: www.EastLA.lasd.org

These new community-based websites mirror the look and feel of www.lasd.org but they are geographically specific and topic specific to the communities they serve. Over 40 languages are available via Google’s link to an automated foreign language translator.

"The public has requested more geographically-specific and topic-specific information about their Sheriff’s Department,” said Sheriff Lee Baca. “These Sheriff’s station webpages and the many more that will follow enable unit commanders to provide information of greatest interest to local communities. They provide the public what, we believe, the public has long wanted, in the way they want it provided. It is useful and interesting information, presented in an engaging and highly visual way.”
