The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement regarding very hot weather forecasted for our area on Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued the following Special Weather Statement.

Very hot weather expected on Thursday. Maximum temperatures will reach or slightly exceed 100 degrees for the majority of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana on Thursday. Dew points will also be high, making it feel like 100 to 110 degrees outdoors.

To minimize the threat of excessive heat exposure, take frequent breaks during any strenuous outdoor activity, preferably in an air-conditioned location. If possible reschedule these activities during the cooler early morning or evening hours. Stay hydrated with non- alcoholic fluids, preferably water, and wear light fitting loose clothes. Provide shelter from the sun and water for pets. Do not leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even for a minute.

In addition, please check on your elderly family members and/or neighbors during this period of extremely hot weather conditions.

If you need assistance, please contact the North Riverside Police Department. Dial 911 to report an EMERGENCY, or 447-9191 for other non-emergency matters.
