HEAT EMERGENCY
In anticipation of the upcoming dangerously high temperatures, the residents of Sun Prairie should be prepared to ensure their safety. Individual community members can contact the Sun Prairie Police Department at 608-837-7336, or by dialing 911, to receive assistance in locating a place to stay that has cool and safe temperatures. The Police Department is available to help 24 hours a day and citizens should not hesitate to call.
In the event that a need arises for a large scale cooling station, Sun Prairie City Government is prepared to create such a station and is prepared to provide transportation to a cooling station.
High heat indexes necessitate that people drink plenty of hydrating fluids and limit their amount of time outdoors.
Sun Prairie community members should plan for the dangerous conditions that are forthcoming and should make arrangements immediately to stay in an environment that has appropriately cool temperatures. Community members who, for whatever reason, cannot make these preparations should contact the Sun Prairie Police Department as soon as possible in order to receive help preparing.
