Valencia, Zone 5, Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information

Snapshot for the Week of 06/11/2012 through 06/17/2012
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station
Crime Prevention Unit

As your Zone Leader for Valencia (Zone 5), I reviewed 21 part one crimes occurring within various areas of Valencia during the past week. These reported crimes represent a significant increase over the previous week. The increase was a result of a number of property crimes such as grand theft from vehicles and burglary reports. The reports of grand theft were from unlocked vehicles occurring during the day time hours and involving vehicles parked in business parking lots. Items stolen were golf clubs, an Apple I-Pad, a lap top, and a purse; all of which were visible from the front and rear windows of the vehicles.

Two residential burglaries occurred on weekdays between the hours of 0800 am-1100 pm when the victims were not home. Entries into the homes were made through windows. Jewelry was taken from both of the homes. One commercial burglary involved a storage shed at a business and occurred between the hours of 0700 pm -0500 am. Items stolen were various garden tools.

Please do not become a victim. Secure all personal belongings by not leaving your valuables visible in your vehicles. Lock all windows and doors before leaving your vehicle and/or homes. Keep track of your valuables and serialized property. If you need to file a report for a stolen item, deputies will request specific information; ie: serial numbers, description and type of item, etc. (which is helpful for tracking your stolen item in the data base).

Remember to report all suspicious activity by calling the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding Valencia (Zone 5), please feel free to call me at 661-799-5164 or email me at [email protected]. It is my goal to keep the residents of Valencia informed and educated on current crime trends, so that they may protect themselves from becoming a victim.

Remember, by continuing to work together we will send a “not in Santa Clarita” message.
