Chain Snatch Robbery Suspects Arrested

During the afternoon of June 14, 2012, deputies from Century station responded to the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Josephine Avenue in the city of Lynwood regarding a robbery call. The deputies learned bodily force had been used by the suspects to steal the victim’s gold necklace. The suspects fled from the location in a newer model sedan. Fortunately, a witness was able to write down the license plate of the suspect vehicle as it sped away. Detectives from Century station were able to quickly identify the suspects using Sheriff’s Department resources and technology. A search warrant operation was conducted and the suspects were arrested without incident. Detectives are currently exploring the probability of the suspects being involved in similar “chain snatch” robberies.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Century Station would like to remind you to please walk in groups if possible and be aware of your surroundings. Try to avoid walking with ear phones in your ears, texting while walking, or having exposed jewelry. Oftentimes, suspect(s) are opportunistic and look for distracted victims.

Please register your cell phones or personal music devices. If the item came with an insurance card, please fill it out and submit it. Also, contact your cellular carrier and inquire about cellular device tracking systems, which are usually a free application offered by your cellular carrier.
