Carjacking Suspects Captured
In the evening of June 15, 2012, deputies from Century station responded to a fight call near the 13000 block of Alameda Street in unincorporated Los Angeles. The deputies soon learned a carjacking had occurred and the victim’s SUV was still outstanding. During the commission of the carjacking, the suspects made their gang affiliation known to the victim. Soon thereafter, assisting deputies located the stolen SUV in the rear yard of a residence within a geographical area frequented by the suspects’ gang. The suspects were actively engaged in stripping the vehicle of its components. The suspects soon fled and a containment of the area was established. Utilizing a Sheriff’s Department Canine Unit, the suspects were soon located and detained. The suspects were later identified by the victim and arrested. The crime of carjacking is extremely violent and often goes unsolved. In this case, the positive efforts of Century station personnel led to the capture of several violent criminals.
