Saturday June 16th, 4:15 pm –

On June 16, 2012 at 1616 hours, San Mateo Police received a 911 call from a family in the 1500 Block of Day Street in San Mateo, who reported their 3 year old daughter had wandered away from their home and was missing.  Police Officers immediately responded and began searching for the child along with the family.  The child was quickly located unresponsive in a lagoon close to the family's apartment.  Officers administered CPR until the arrival of San Mateo Fire and American Medical Response Paramedics.  The Paramedics continued CPR, but were unable to revive the child.  She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The San Mateo Coroner's Office responded to take over the investigation - by all accounts this appears to be a tragic accidental death. San Mateo Police and Fire Personnel are assisting the family in their time of grief.
