San Mateo Police to Participate in Law Enforcement Torch Run through San Mateo
TODAY - Friday June 15th along El Camino Real

SMPD invites our community members to come out and watch as the Special Olympic Torch is run through our city/county along the El Camino TODAY - Friday, June 15th. SMPD Officers will run along supporting the Special Olympian running the Torch starting in San Mateo at 43rd Avenue around 1030 am and ending at Peninsula around 1115 am on its way to Aggie Stadium at UC Davis for the Olympic Games. Please come out and show support for this worthy cause along with the San Mateo Police Department.

• The Law Enforcement Torch Run® is the largest global grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness campaign for Special Olympics.
• Monies raised provide year-round sports training and competition.
• Special Olympics empowers individuals with intellectual disabilities in more than 180 countries. Special Olympics often is the only place where they have an opportunity to participate in their communities and develop belief in themselves. Many live lives of neglect and isolation, hidden away or socially excluded from full participation in schools or society.
• Transforming the athlete, Special Olympics sports are a gateway to empowerment, competence, acceptance and joy. Please consider helping the San Mateo Police Department in its efforts to fund the training by clicking the following link:
