Valencia, Zone 5 Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information

Snapshot for the Week of 06/04/2012 through 06/10/2012
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station
Crime Prevention Unit

Last week in Zone 5 we saw a slight increase in theft from unlocked vehicles. This was largely due to reported incidents of thefts from unlocked vehicles occurring in various neighborhoods in Valencia. Most of these incidents occurred in the evening, during weekdays. Items stolen included a purse, wallet, cell phone and lap top. All items stolen were left in the backseat or floorboard of the car. The suspect(s) was clearly able to see the items, prior to entering the vehicle and stealing them.

You can reduce the likelihood of falling victim to crime by following a few simple crime prevention tips:

Always secure all windows and doors in your vehicle.

Always keep garage doors closed unless you are in the IMMEDIATE area.

Lock your vehicles, even when they are parked in your driveway or garage.

Never leave valuable items in plain view. If you have to leave property in your vehicle, lock it in the trunk.

Remember, vehicles are being burglarized for i-pods, cell phones, GPS, and purses that are left in plain view. Leaving these items is an invitation to thieves. DO NOT BE A VICTIM!

If you see a suspicious person in your neighborhood looking into vehicles, please call the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.

To report graffiti in your area for immediate removal please call 661-25-CLEAN (252-5326).

If you have any questions or concerns regarding Valencia (Zone 5), please feel free to call me at 661-799-5164 or email me at [email protected]. It is my goal to keep the residents of Valencia informed and educated on current crime trends, so that they may protect themselves from becoming a victim.

Remember, by continuing to work together we will send a “not in Santa Clarita” message.
