Advisory

WARRIOR DASH RACE, Channahon - June 16-17 - Increased traffic.

On Saturday and Sunday, June 16 and 17, 2012, which is Father’s day weekend, The Dollinger Family Farm in Channahon is again hosting a “Warrior Dash” race. The Dollinger Farm is located on Hansel Road between Ridge Road and McLinden Road in Grundy County. This 3.19 mile running obstacle course is touted on the company website: www.warriordash.com, as the world’s largest running series.
According to the race event coordinators, there are up to 30,000 people scheduled to arrive in the Channahon area over the weekend in the form of racers, spectators and workers. Needless to say, there will be an extraordinary amount of vehicles travelling to and from the event location on both of these days. As was the case last year, the races start at 8:00 am and the last event starts at 6:30 pm on Saturday and 5:30 on Sunday. The races or waves will start every half hour. Heavier traffic will surge before and after each wave. To accommodate the high traffic volume, it will be necessary to temporarily divert the flow of traffic on certain roads during the height of the event. The road changes will be as follows:
TRAFFIC PATTERN CHANGES and TIMES:
• Ridge Road from Route 6 to Hansel Road – One-way South only
• Hansel Road from Ridge Road to McLinden Road – One-way West
• McLinden Road from Hansel Road to Route 6 – One-way North

Saturday, June 18 - 6:00 a.m. to approximately 8:00 p.m.
Sunday, June 19 – 6:00 a.m. to approximately 7:00 p.m.

Signs have already been placed in the area announcing these changes. In addition, the Keating Point – Woods of AuxSable subdivisions will be closed to all but emergency vehicles and residents during the event. This area will be used by public safety agencies to coordinate fire, EMS and police services. The Channahon Police Department will have officers stationed at intersections in the area of the race to direct traffic for maximum efficiency.

The Channahon Police Department, The Minooka Fire Protection District, Morris Hospital personnel and various public service agencies have been planning, along with the Warrior Dash organizers, to make this event as safe and trouble free as possible. If you have questions, feel free to call the Channahon Police Department Administrative offices at: 815-467-5152 during weekday business hours. If police assistance is needed at any time, please dial “911” or the 24-hour police services line at: 815-467-2112.

Sincerely,

Lieutenant Mark W. Fischer
