NJ Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics NJ

Officers from the Saddle Brook Police Department will join almost 3,000 law enforcement officers from around NJ carrying the "Flame of Hope" during the 29th Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics NJ on Friday, June 8th. The Torch Run is an annual event to raise funds and awareness for the 22,000 athletes of Special Olympics NJ. The event culiminates in the lighting of the Olympic coldron at the annual Summer Games @ the College of NJ on Friday night.

Saddle Brook police officers will take the torch from the Garfield Police Department on Friday at approximately 9am at Midland Ave/Market St. SBPD will run the torch down Market Street accompanied by an SONJ athlete and several escort/secruity vehicles. They in turn will pass the torch to officers of the Lodi Police Department at Main and Essex Streets. For the first time ever, anyone can track the course of the various torch runs around the state by going to www.TrackTheTorchNJ.org. The torches will cover over 900 miles on Friday. Saddle Brook participates in Run #6.
