Recent Burglary Spree Solved

On May 6th and 7th, Century station learned of nine separate vehicle burglaries near the area of 135th Street and San Pedro Street. Several broadcasts were provided to patrol deputies regarding the recent crime trend. Armed with this information, two patrol deputies from Century station canvassed the area for additional information. During their canvass, they contacted a parolee seated inside a parked vehicle. During the contact, they recognized personal electronics items that matched the description of items recently stolen during the vehicle burglaries. During a subsequent parole compliance search, the deputies recovered nearly 30 stolen items, including audio equipment, clothing, compact discs, and personal electronics equipment. These items were later identified by their rightful owners and returned. The deputies also managed to track down the sale of eight stolen vehicle batteries that had been recently sold by the suspect. The suspect was later arrested for several counts of vehicle burglary. Since the arrest, there has been a reduction in vehicle burglaries near the affected area. This is an outstanding example of Century station’s continued effort toward reducing property crimes.
