The installation of various traffic signals along Market Street is scheduled to begin today and run for approximately the next four (4) months. Installation of the signals and the corresponding road work will be performed at and between the follwoing intersections.
* Market & Sampson - New traffic signal
* Market & Caldwell - New traffic signal
* Market & 5th - upgrade of existing signal
* 73 Market - installation of a controlled signal ( a signal to allow safe entrance and egress of emergency vehicles from the adjacent property )
* 93 Market (lower lot) - installation of a controlled signal.
Motorist should expect delays and should pay special attention to the speed limits in the construction zones (fines doubled) and to changing pedestrian crossing patterns caused by the construction.
NJ Transit Bus riders - As per NJT, the bus routes throughout the construction area will not be altered at this time. While the routes remain the same, the shelters and stops may be temporarily moved outside of active construction zones. Signage will be posted as to the temporary bus stop locations.
