...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY
EVENING FOR NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WATCH FOR NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA.

* FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING

* AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL DEVELOP OVER THE WESTERN GULF
TONIGHT AND GRADUALLY LIFT NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH SUNDAY. THIS
SYSTEM WILL ALLOW ABUNDANT GULF MOISTURE AND WIDESPREAD RAIN TO
SPREAD OVER THE STATE BEGINNING LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUING
THROUGH SUNDAY.

* RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES...WITH ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS
POSSIBLE... ARE EXPECTED FROM SATURDAY THROUGH LATE SUNDAY
AFTERNOON. SEVERAL RECENT RAIN EVENTS HAVE LEFT SOIL MOISTURE
AND AVERAGE STREAM FLOWS WELL ABOVE NORMAL...WITH A FEW CREEKS
AND RIVERS STILL IN MINOR FLOOD. THE ADDITIONAL RAINFALL... OVER
AN ALREADY SATURATED GROUND... WILL PRODUCE AMPLE RUNOFF TO
CAUSE RISES ON ALREADY SWOLLEN CREEKS...STREAMS AND RIVERS.
THEREFORE...THE EXPECTED RAINFALL AMOUNTS OVER THE WEEKEND COULD
RESULT IN WIDESPREAD MINOR TO ISOLATED MODERATE FLOODING ACROSS
MUCH OF THE WATCH AREA. ALSO...WITH AUTUMN COMING TO AN END...
MOST OF THE LEAVES HAVE FALLEN. THIS COULD LEAD TO STORM DRAINS
BECOMING CLOGGED... RESULTING IN STREET FLOODING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
