Michael Siegel, a 20 year old transient in San Luis Obispo


On May 5, 2012 at approx. 0505 hours officers responded to the area of Atascadero and Oceanaire to the report of four males looking into vehicles with flashlights. Three males were contacted at Madonna and Oceanaire as they were leaving the area.
Maciel was identified as one who was involved in the attempted auto burglary. Seigel was arrested for possession of stolen property and being under the influence of narcotics.

Stolen property was returned to one victim who was identified by discarded items on the sidewalk near Madonna and Oceanaire.

This incident emphasizes the important role our citizens play in keeping our community safe. The observations by this resident were essential in the apprehension of the offenders. Please report suspicious activity to your local law enforcement agency.

In addition, the Police Department encourages citizens to secure their vehicle when it is parked and to keep anything of value out of sight. Remove valuables to help reduce the loss of these items.

Both of these suspects were booked into county jail.
