UPDATE: Robbery Suspects Arrested on April 22nd Charged by DA - offense occurred 1400 Franklin
The Oakland Police Department made two notable arrests in connection with downtown robberies.
On April 22, 2012, at 11:25 PM, Oakland Police officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Franklin Street, on a report of a robbery. Victims told the police they were walking home and were approached by two suspects. One of the suspects brandished a knife, while the second suspect took items from both victims. The suspects then fled the scene on foot.
During the officer’s preliminary investigation, they were able to track the suspects to the 100 block of Oak Street, where they were detained. The victims were able to positively identify the two suspects as being responsible for the robbery.
Police arrested San Francisco resident Rashawn Jones and Oakland resident Joshua Crumel.
The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged both Jones and Crumel with robbery and assault.
Investigators are looking into the possibility of more downtown robberies in connection with these two suspects.
