DEA's National Take-Back Initiative

On April 28, 2012 between 10 am and 2 pm, the Grapevine Police Department in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Agency will allow residents to dispose of unwanted and unused prescription drugs. The drop-off location will be in the front parking lot of the Police Department.

The purpose of these National Take Back Days is to provide a venue for persons to remove potentially dangerous prescription drugs, particularly controlled substances, from our nation’s medicine cabinets so they are not abused or misused by our children.

There were over 5,000 state and local law enforcement agencies throughout the nation that participated in the previous event. All told, the American Public turned in more than 188.5 tons of medication. 143 lbs of medication was collected in Grapevine at the October 2011 event.

This is a great opportunity for those who missed the previous events or who have subsequently accumulated unwanted, unused prescription drugs, to safely dispose of them.

For additional details, please contact Officer Jason Keller at 817.421.2192.
