Two Arrested in Valley Springs Residential Burglary

(Valley Springs, CA) On 04/08/12 Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 700 block of Quail Oaks Road in Valley Springs for a report of a residential burglary. The investigation revealed that unknown persons entered the residence without force and stole a gaming console, electronic games, and other personal electronic devices. On 04/11/12, through follow-up investigations, the deputies learned the identities of two burglars who entered the home, one being Joseph James Roque (18) of Valley Springs, and the other being a 17 year old male from Valley Springs.

The deputies contacted the two suspects and obtained voluntary confessions from them. They confessed that they entered the home through an unlocked second-story bedroom window via a ladder and the roof. Additionally, prior to the arrest of Mr. Roque he agreed to meet the deputy at the victim’s home, where Mr. Roque returned the stolen property to the victim (another juvenile). The investigation revealed that Mr. Roque had pre-planned the burglary several days before actually committing it.

Mr. Roque was arrested and booked into the Calaveras County jail on the charges of 460 (A) PC (felony), 487 (A) PC (felony), 496 PC (felony), 182 (A)(1) PC (felony), and 148 (A) PC (misdemeanor). The juvenile suspect was cited and released to his parents on the same charges.
